My buddy just picked up a TSi, and he has some cash leftover to start modding (about 2k). What would you recommend as good places to start?

Sometimes when I use my turn signal, it will flat out not work, or after a couple of seconds it will flash a few times really fast and then start flashing normally. What’s up with this? Any suggestions on how to fix it? I ALMOST got a ticket for it when a cop thought I failed to signal when really it was my stupid car.
I’m considering doing a fiberglass/carbon hood swap, but I’d like to know how much of a difference it will make. Does anyone have this stat?
This has been going on for a while, but I haven’t really worried about it until I got a ticket for failure to signal last week. Basically, whenever I put my left indicator on, nothing happens. I don’t think it’s the bulbs because when I have the flashers on, they both work. Any suggestions as to what would cause this? I need to get it fixed to get my ticket taken care of. I’m wondering how long the factory tires usually last on these cars? A friend has one with about 12k on it, and the tires are already looking roasted. This is not someone who hoons their car around, and they’re driving mostly highway miles. Is this about right, or is this premature tire wear? The car is a 2012.
Interested in hearing how far you guys would go/have gone for the sake of weight reduction. Would you pull out your rear seats? Full interior? Drill holes in supports? Etc.
I know this is a very common problem on the 3rd gens, but is there a way to reverse the paint oxidization on cars? Is buffing it out an option, or does it need a respray?

I know a lot of guys just weld their difs, but do you guys think a viscious or a torsion dif is a better use of resources on this car? I mainly use it for daily driving and the occasional track day (I don’t drift it). What do you think?
Id really like to make a good straight line performer, but which trans could handle power better? For arguments sake, say 500whp?
