This was undoubtedly an amazing performance. Two greats of the sport (Sebastian and Lewis) battling for the championship. Who said F1 is boring?
Fernando is behind Kimi who keeps blocking him:
Alonso: “Who is this Caterham?”
Alonso’s engineer: “That’s a Ferrari, not a Caterham”
Alonso: “I love your sense of humour”
Fernando goes wheel to wheel with Kimi, who forces him off track:
Alonso: “You have to leave the space! All the time you have to leave the space!”
Raikkkonen: “This guy is a f*cking joke!”
Next corner, and Fernando forces Kimi off track in revenge:
Alonso: “Karma!”
Raikkonen: “That idiot will crash into me!”
Fernando is ahead, but they are coming up to a straight where Kimi is about to easily drive past:
Raikkonen: “C’mon get that McLaren out of the way!”
Alonso: “GP2 engine, GP2! Arghh!”
Fernando is catching up again in the corners:
Raikkonen’s engineer: “Fernando is faster than you! Speed up. Can you confirm you understood that message?”
Raikkonen: “Just leave me alone I know what I’m doing!”
Raikkonen’s engineer: “But why were you so slow?”
Raikkonen: “I was having a sh*t.”
Meanwhile Fernando is all over Kimi’s rear wing:
Alonso’s engineer: [starts providing useless irrelevant information]
Alonso: “No more radio. For the rest of the race.”
Alonso’s engineer: “But we must provide you with information”
Alonso: “I don’t want! I don’t want!”
Kimi is able to hold off Fernando to finish ahead of him:
Alonso: “Embarrassing. Very embarrassing”
Raikkonen: Bwoah.
Yes, I know stripping the interior is the cheapest and easiest way to reduce the weight of a car. However, I’m just curious if there is a way to reduce weight, while still make the interior look and feel comfortable for a relatively low price. Yes, I know you could swap out the body panels to carbon fibre, but those are expensive. Aluminium and fibreglass body panels are a good example of comfortable “weight reduction bro!” that will not break your bank account. Any more examples?
Congratulations to Lewis Hamilton for winning the 2017 F1 world championship and equalling the achievements of Sebastian Vettel and Alain Prost. It was certainly an amazing season, with two championship rivals and multiple world champions battling it out for most of the season.
Next season should be even more amazing though. With Red Bull building an even more competitive car and McLaren switching to a fast power unit, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were back on top and Fernando fought again for that long-awaited third title. Here will be the likely most competitive drivers for the 2018 season:
Sebastian Vettel
Lewis Hamilton
Fernando Alonso
Kimi Raikkönen
Daniel Riccardo
Max Verstappen
Valtteri Bottas
Stoffel Vandorne
