Tire Review - Federal SS 595

Ahh the good ole cheap burn em up tire, the Federal 595. Lots of people ask me about this tire so I figured lets make a review on them!

People who know me know I love me some Federal tyres. I have had 3 sets of the regular 595. What keeps me coming back to them?

Number one reason is they are CHEAP! In USD, I spent $400 for a full set of 265/35R18’s. I’m not even mad. Second, the tire is soft, which helps provide a decent amount of grip. BUT I don’t want people to think this tire is so sticky that its the summer tire to end all summer tires, because it isn’t.

Cheap and somewhat grippy, where is the drawback. Honestly, the response from this tire is horrid when compared to other tires. I wish there was more steering feel. The sidewall feels flimsy, as if it was constructed from a pack of playing cards. They make a god awful noise at the track also.

You won’t be top of your class with this tire, but they are good enough to hold some speed and have a decent limit. Eventually you will find yourself on the limit of these tires and ready for more. Not a bad tire to start with if you haven’t driven on a summer tire before.

I have a set of these on my drift wheels as well. Drifters have known of the 595 for awhile. They are cheap and give decent grip. You want some grip when you do the skids, it lets you get more aggressive and carry more speed, but not too much grip to where you can’t break loose. What truly makes this a good tire is that its disposable. If you do some skids on these you aren’t going to feel bad, if you do skids on an expensive set of tires, you may have some remorse.

For more of my thoughts and video of these in action, above I linked my video review of them. Let me know what you guys think! Tire or tyre? I’ll let you guys argue that below.
