My Renault Megane III Coupe fuel consumption

Hi all again, half a year ago I bought my daily, and at this moment, my only car, a Megane III Coupe 1.6L 16V, and only weeks ago I restarted the average consumption to calculate my real consumption (the other avg. was from the old owner and the last 20K km)

I restarted it because I noticed that I emptied a full tank in less than 3 weeks… I use the car 85% city and I get 12.1L/100km which is 24 MPG, and for me, it seems a lot for that small and low-powered engine, with only 110hp… So I have two questions, what Average l/100Km|MPG did you get? And the other is: Should I change the car? I mean, it feels so underpowered, my city is like a rollercoaster (Too many hills) and in uphill sometimes don’t have enough power in 2nd Gear

It looks like you don’t drive much when you can drive around 3 weeks with a fuel consumption of 12L/100km. That’s the thing with downsizeing but let’s not start that discussion. There is no right answer you can get. If you think it’s to thirsty and underpowered then change it. I would recommend a hybrid.

The real thing is that the engine is a K4M, is an old engine, and I think that’s why is that bad at Fuel Economy. I mean, what it pisses me off is that feel of underpowered and heavy car, and with that stats, get 12L/100km, I don’t know if you understand what I’m trying to say (I’m not english). My options were a Alfa Romeo Brera and a BMW 330CI, I know there are big differences, about engines and that stuff, but finally I bought the megane because It seems like a bargain, under 4.000€ with 100K km

For a megane 3 coupe, a 1.6 engine isn’t either small or weak. I have a also a megane, 4th gen, and my engine is 1.2 130cp. My consumption goes up to 9-10L/100km. I totally understand how you feel, but i got used to it. When you go uphill, use a gear with 2500-3000 revs. My full tank has 47L and i empty it in 2 weeks, maybe 3 if i dont drive everyday.

You better stick to this relatively new car, rather than buying an old bmw which will bring you several other problems in the future. The Megane 3 coupe is an extraordinary car in my oppinion, all you need to do is to get used to its style!
