The Greatest Manufacturer In Motor Racing History

Hello, Ctzens! I’ve recently started an internship at an online magazine as an automotive correspondent, and as my first article, I wrote about what I think is the greatest manufacturer in motorsports history. It’s my first, so there are few rough spots here and there, but give it a go and tell me what you think! Every page view I get goes toward my monthly evaluation so all reads are appreciated!

i like your article and its very well written and shares some good points. but i dont agree that ford is the best manufacturer in motorsports. They dont really hold that many records that i can find in international racing, Lancia holds the most wrc wins, porsche holds the most Le man wins with Audi in 2nd, and from the understanding i have the cosworth engine had a ford badge on it but was designed and made entirely by cosworth themselves, purely funded by ford which is why it ended up with the ford name on it. I would personally say Porsche is one of the most successful motorsport manufacturers in the world with the consistency they have had through out the history.

The reason why I said Ford is the most successful is not because they have the most wins but it’s because of their breadth. When Ferrari dominated Le Mans way before Porsche’s rise, Ford came in and swept it. Then they moved onto WRC, which they would dominate for a decade, then they funded (as you said) the Cosworth DFV. Winnings wise, Ford is in the mid-level, but I don’t think any other manufacturer left an impact in all different disciplines of motorsports. But then again, you are also right, Porsche is definitely up there.

You do have a good point :) they have done a lot of motorsports. I’m not sure there latest ford gt is going to live up to the hype it’s under for leman having seen it race. It’s nice to be able to have a reasonable conversation about something finally :)

The new GT’s are having shaky starts because of reliability issues, but then, so did the original GT40s 😁
