Diesel 7000 Rpms
So, today a mate wanted to tell me that he could rev his dad’s S-Max “diesel“ to 6000 rpms and that the redline ends on 7000 rpms.
He said it might be because of the bigger turbos his dad installed.
After another few mates and i tried to confince him that he’s not proof, he said it might be a special diesel engine.
Are there some inventions that passed me without noticing or is he just dumb?

My diesel could rev to 6k as wel after I did some modding. Not a s-max tough.
I know a video from a german Tuner (JP Performance), who tuned his golf 4 1.9 TDI to about 400 PS and he could rev it to 6000 rpms too, but never only with a few turbos.
Thank you for your anwser mate.
A turbo isn’t going to increase Rev range. That’s more on the cams….
Right, that’s the point we wanted him to understand, but he is so ignorant..
In fact, Turbo is lowered the rev limit
Really hard to make a diesel rev that high
Normal diesels rev to 5k or max 6k maybe..
I would believe that it is possible, I have seen a 2.2 D-CAT Rav4 rev to 6000 RPMs before.
I’m sorry I’m late but my truck will go to 6krpm with bullet proof motor and bigger turbo and bigger injectors and exhaust and bolt ons… also its a 6.0 f350 at 179k miles.
people pushing there diesels over 5k on stock heads are stupid its good way to kiss a valve with a piston. If you want to rev that high which you don’t need to I would recommend stiffer valve spings
My 2.0 turbodiesel once ran at 5400-5500rpm (the redline starts at 4500rpm and that’s when the fuel is cut off) but that was because of a misjudged downshift from 4th to 3rd gear while doing about 130kph (my 3rd gear goes to about 110kph) :)
