If you think VTEC is at all similar to turbo then you need to hit the books and get a clue. If you're going to brag about something at least know what it is and how it works. Not hating on Honda just uneducated Honda drivers.
uneducated honda drivers. So everyone with a honda
How do you figure that? Every manufacturer has it’s own uneducated fanboy group.
But you have to understand that when it kicks in it pulls you back so hard its like a turbo!
No, It just gets louder and slightly more efficient, with a marginal increase in available power. However unlike BMW’s VANOS system VTEC doesn’t generate any torque, none. So really it’s more of an overdrive gear, it feels sharper but it’s NOTHING like forced induction, not in the way it works, not in the way it feels, and DEFINITELY not in the way it sounds. I’d had a guy try and tell me it sounds like a turbo spooling, utter nonsense. Really cool piece of engineering though, and they are GREAT engines, amazing really. Also i’m assuming you were being sarcastic?
Well the idea is the same :more air = bigger bang
The PRINCIPLE of forced induction is not the same as variable valve timing in any way shape or form speaking from a scientific point of view. Nothing about the two systems is similar, in principle or practice. Simply saying more air= bigger bang is grossly over-simplifying it.
But when the VTEC kicks in yo it just makes my civic faster, well that and the fart can, wing and stickers in my rear window bragging about me and your sister last night lol (BTW this was meant to make fun of the stereotypical Honda driver so don’t offence to this)
But when the vtec kicks in it feels it does soind like a turbo, yo!
sarcasm again?
Yo, my Honda packs 2,000 bhp because of VTEC and my fart can. Every sticker adds 5 hp, and my drift charm adds 10 hp!!
I really am numb to these Honda bashing comments on the Internet due to the fact that 80% is actually true and it sucks. There are some cool down to earth true car enthusiast Honda owners but we are so far and few that this public image of the 17 year old vape smoking wanna be thug swag bag is killing it for me and the few. All I can say in defense for Hondas is they’re not fast or MEANT to be. They’re meant to be reliable fuel efficient cars. Even the “racing” or “sport” Hondas aren’t meant to be fast. They’re meant to be all around balanced and easy to drive, it’s not about power it’s about being able to drive it at its full power. But I’m just blabbing on and will end it here. As far as the kid saying vtec and a TURBINE is the same thing “more air” is just confused
Thanks for pouring your purse on the table but nobody here is suggesting Hondas are bad cars. I LOVE Hondas, they are really fun to work on and drive. Great little cars. Maybe you should try not letting it get to you rather than looking butthurt (this is coming from a Mustang driver in the wake of all the recent hate) i’m just being real man, not trying to hate at all, you made some really good points there, but no matter how many facts you come up with it will always be a losing battle sadly. Best just laugh about it
