I need your advice! Audi A4 B5 1.6

My parents own a Audi A4 B5 1.6 and it’s in great condition, has 147k and according to the dealer the Engine looks very good. We are the second owner of the car.

I can buy the car for a low price when I’m 18, but I need to make the decision.

About the car, are there any owners of the 1.6 around here?

Many people are telling the 1.6 is too slow, and it’s not worth upgrading.
What do you think about this?

Should I get it? for other owners, I like to know what your experience is.

(The car in the picture is almost the same, our Audi is completely stock.)

Well it depents what you wan’t from car. If you like to tune engine and make race car, then 1,6l is waste of Money. But if you want reliable good looking car then it is good choise. Parts are cheap and easy to find. I had B5 1,8 n/a quattro and i liked it wery much but engine was too powerless for quattro. If cheap and condition is as you describe it is good first car!

1.6 is quite nippy for speed up to 60kmh (35ish mph), but if you want a racecar, then I’d suggest you go for the 1.8T model.
I personally own a 90hp Tdi model (AHH engine) and it drives really good, Im the second owner of the car and it has 320k km on the odometer - everything works fine and the car is stock.. I’be driven about 80k km with the car being stock and now I’m planning to upgrade the intake and exhaust + chiptuning. But that just shows that the TDI engine is quite good even being stock..
