200 hp naturally aspirated

My goal is to get 180-200 horsepower naturally aspirated for my 91 miata, also to get it to beable to rev to 11k rpms. What do I have to do to achieve this, i don’t want a turbo or supercharger.

Have you considered engine swap? Or a stroker kit?

I thought about a 1 8 swap but my 1.6 only has 40k miles and i cant find a 1.6 stroker kit

180 hp to the crank is easy to get with a manifold, an ecu remap, single throttle bodies, AC delete, lighter flywheel etc… but 11k rpm? Not practical at all. you are going to end up spending a lot more than a supercharger kit.

getting ~50% more power out of a na engine is not as easy as you make it out to be.
With the mods you listed youre looking at 130crank HP with a good tune.

You will need a stroker kit to achive 11000rpm without breaking the engine, also try an ITB conversion

As far as ~200hp, you can check out my build here to get an idea https://www.carthrottle.com/post/nzjzy28/
The 11k RPM is not possible unless you want to dump thousands of euros and have the engine run for ~200km tops before scraping everything.

Also I would go to 949 racing and read their post on building a naturally aspirated engine
They have everything layed out in cost and other things

How much do you think it would cost

200hp N/A from a small 4 banger will be EXPENSIVE. You will need a properly ported head, bigger valves, stiffer valvesprings for more RPM, custom cams for your specific setup, adjustable camgears, lighter and balanced rods and pistons, higher compression ratio, a proper ITB setup with a good ECU, a good exhaust manifold and 2,5’’ exhaust system.
A 2.3 Volvo engine will cost you about £4000 to get a little above 200hp, a 1.6 or 1.8 will most likely cost more.

A 1.6 can’t do 200HP NA unless you do thousands worth of work. 11,000 rpm will quickly rip it apart.

Im ok with not having 11k rpms. Would it cost more than 10k?

You have to get a budget of $10-15,000.

Wethe it’s put a different engine or have that rebuilt to spec it’ll be north of 10k.

Not sure about the revving to 11k part but you’d get roughly 180hp from an h22 swap, cheap and relatively reliable.

Id rather do a k20a2
