As far as I know any of the B series is a great replacement for the D series, not a whole lot of “kick” stock though. If you wanted a motor with a little more punch and had the economics you’re looking for, a K series with a manifold and exhaust will be plenty of fun matched with a LSD. But a K swap is also more expensive than a B series. The prices probably even out though all in all. It’s all preference!

It’s ALOT more expensive than a B-series.
Not only is the engine itself more expensive, but there is no factory wiring harness that works. You need new mounts (also involves drilling out the left mounting bracket from the cars frame), you need driveshafts, a shifter box with cables, a clutch line, a swap header, radiator with hoses.

A B16 is plug and play compared to a K.

170bhp and around 150nm. Revs like a rocket to 8k and in a 1000kg civic it’s a decent powerpack.
