I assume you mean welding it to lock it? If so, don’t. Pick up a used M3 diff - never go cheap on drivetrain
Live in NZ parts like that are difficult to find or very expensive to ship over :(
I don’t have any experience with driving a car with a welded diff, but if you want to (because driftcar) buy a 3.15 open diff from the 325i, because its the smallest ratio you can fit to a 6cyl e36 (besides 320i). the other differentials that have shorter ratios, can’t really support the amount of power that a 6cyl has because they are smaller: Big diff: 323i, 325i, 328i, m3. smallest 3.15 Small diff: every 4cyl + 320i. I have seen people running small diff on 6cyl engines, but I don’t know how they work on a much torquier/powerful engine.
If you have a car that has a big diff, definetely go with the 3.15 diff ratio of the 325i and m3. BTW sorry because crappy english 😛
I thanks that’s what I’m gonna have to do, actually have a mate with a 325i manual that’s a write off so I will see if I can get a hold of one. Thanks for the help 😀
What you can do is have an aftermarket LSD gear made to your car. Theres KAAZ, Diffsonline and others thatll make a custom lsd gear with the ratio of your choice. Downside is you have to take your diff apart and put the custom lsd gear yourself
