Firebird as a daily driver?
Currently own a 13 Mazda 3 hatch but miss having a v8. Thinking of selling and possibly getting a trans am, foxbody, or cobra. I would most likely have full bolt one and cam etc but it would be my daily driver still. I wanted to see how many people daily their f bodies and advice you would give. Also the only big downside I see about owning a fbody would be the engine bay space you have to work on the engine. Let me know your Input. Thanks!

I daily mine and I don’t have any issues. I’m a gm guy through and through so that’s what I would recommend.
How hard is working on the engine? From spark plugs all the way to cam and long tube headers
If you want one as a daily these cars are fine for that, just spend the extra money and get a 1-2 owner, lower mileage one.
It can be a pain I’m not going to lie the engine in positioned in a dumb spot but headers, from looking at mine any way, shouldn’t a big problem it you have a nice set of jack stands
I think they get high 20smpg on the highway with the 6 speed. I also heard they are pretty reliable. However I wouldn’t only have a trans am as one car I would keep the Mazda you have or get a cheap daily Corolla or something and have the trans am as the fun car. That’s just my opinion.
My lt1 gets 26 mpg highway with the auto. My dads with the ls1 and six speed gets more like 29 highway
Yeah, id do new gears but it still rips a good peel so imma just leave em the way they are
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it lol if you’re happy with them don’t change em
cant beat 4.10 gears, i do 2000rpms at 60mph but it pulls like a freight train
I own a trans am, but i wouldnt dare daily it. The 4th gen f bodies have tons a rattles, and it drives me up the wall. On the other hand if you don’t care about interior plastics and wind noise you cant beat a LS1 up front and the look of a T/A coming down the road. Way better then a 4.6 or the 302 in my humble biased opinion.
