1987 Mercury Cougar XR-7
Cousin to the fox body Mustang, this daily driver cat has the 5.0L torquey V8 from Ford. Simple car to work on and very fun to drive. Has 2.5” dual exhaust from the headers back. I had a Thunderbird Turbocoupe parts car I salvaged many parts from, including a beefier 8.8” rear axle, that I will swap into my cougar one of these days. I also plan to add a shift kit to the tranny and throw a top end kit on the motor. It is my daily driver and my ever evolving project car.

I love your car! very classy and sporty!!
Good now get a stang front end or make it a sleeper!
Check out americanmuscle.com if you ever need parts for your car. It looks great BTW.
I’ve heard of that site before. They do have a great selection of performance mustang parts that would work for me.
Whoa, high five dude!
I’m a Cougar owner too, mine is an 86 V6 model, with the 3 speed automatic.
A bit of a sad story. I crashed in 2014 and haven’t had the money to fix her.
So I don’t have her in the CT garage.
here’s a pic.
Hey cool cat man! I like the notch-back body styling these cars have. It looks like the damage was contained to the front end. With enough determination, it could certainly be put back on the road one day.
did you ever find your premium sound head unit? :)
Oh yeah. I did say I was going to look for that. Let me check back home this weekend and see if I remember where it is. I’ll get back to you.
Aye cougar brother….. accept mines the gay model
Ahh, I see you drive one of the FWD models from the early 2000’s. Don’t be so harsh on yourself. I’ve heard they can be good solid daily drivers.
classy cougar, very foxy
