Why Isn't This Stunning, Original Audi Quattro More Expensive?

This fabulous 32,000-mile Quattro has an auction estimate of what seems like a relatively affordable £35,000, so surely this is a foolproof investment?
Why Isn't This Stunning, Original Audi Quattro More Expensive?

There are two types of people in this world: those who desperately want this 1991 Audi Quattro, and those who need their heads sorting out.

What you’re looking at is a 26-year-old proper Quattro, for sale with Classic Car Auctions next month. It has an intercooled, 20-valve five-cylinder engine that was good for 200bhp when it was new. Permanent all-wheel drive that revolutionised the world rally scene underpins a famously nose-heavy platform that will live forever in legend.

Although it’s a late version of the Quattro from 1991, and is much improved over the early cars, it’s not that fast by today’s standards. It will nudge 60mph in 7.1 seconds, but a 140mh top speed is probably more than you really need. There are two special things about this one: firstly, that it has covered 32,233 miles from new. It’s nice and low, but you could still use it yourself without ruining its value.

Secondly, it has only had two owners in its 26 years, both for about 13 years each. It’s completely original, in great condition with part-leather seats and ‘quattro’ branding. It even has a recent MOT with no advisories.

Finished in Tornado Red, this right-hooker is an original UK car, so with all things considered it’s a surprise to see an auction estimate of just £35,000-£40,000. Surely this has to be a sound investment. The Quattro could easily be the next model to suddenly hit six figures out of nowhere.

It’s up for auction at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre on 23 September. You know you want it, so we think it’s about time you went and told your bank manager.

This is the car that makes eyebrows raise on non-car people when we tell them we love it

You could get this one and save 15-20k but the car itself is at 145,000 miles

Somebody will probably buy it and devalue it by modifying it

Missing the point here its an auction ESTIMATE. See what it actually sells for then decide if its “reasonable”
