Wheel Spacers making a clicking sound?
A few days ago I installed 25mm wheel spacers on all 4 wheels of my Chevy HHR, and it seems that when im going slowly up or down an incline, or I turn slowly, I hear a small click coming from one or both of the front wheels. It sounds like it’s metal hitting metal, but I torqued the nuts to the correct setting, and installed everything as it said to in a few different videos I watched. If anyone has any ideas or wants more info, I’d really appreciate it! Thanks!

Support the vehicle and remove the wheels, inspect the spacers just to make sure they are seated correctly/flush to the wheel hub. If the inspection has been deemed within specs as directed my the spacer’s manufacture settings.. the issue could be deeper and within the wheel baring..
The weird thing is that it doesnt make any sound while im driving over 15 mph and when the click happens, i cant feel it in the steering wheel or the pedals, its just a sound… Im wondering if there’s something I couldve done to the wheel bearing or something else while I was tightening the lug nuts?
I checked and the wheel doesnt hit anything within the wheel well and yes i took the wheel covers off and it doesnt the same thing.. And when i hear it, its just one little click, its not as if something is dragging on something, and it doesnt happen every time I turn the wheel while driving slowly or up or down an incline, only sometimes.
Sounds like maybe you should inspect the CV joints. The GM ones have a knack for not holding up well after its been sitting for long periods.
Okay I will look into that, thank you!
Yep summers is right on the cv axels I have seen a wheel bearing cause a similar noise before but thats less common if you have a buddy stand next to the car drive in a circle with the wheel at full lock and find out wich side (im not a internet mechanic, its my job every day)
Would installing wheel spacers have anything to do with that though? Cause I didnt hear anything until I installed them
