1979 Mercedes Benz 450SEL 6.9

In its day you could have bought two Jaguar XJS V12’s and a Lancia Beta HPE for the price of a base model 450SEL. Understated and beautifully engineered the car was the choice of racing drivers, dictators and movie start.

The huge engine was hand made (not cast) components and a dry sump, usually associated with racing cars and exotic supercars and self levelling hydropneumatic suspension was fitted all round.

The 450SEL is no ordinary car and the club’s car is no ordinary example. Delivered in 1979 to it’s first owner in Kuwait this full power European spec car has leather interior (including headlining and dashboard), electric reclining rear seats and climate control.
