Suzuki Samurai. A good choice?

What do you guys think about the Suzuki samuri? I’ve heard good and bad things about it. I’ve been looking for a cheap off roader and the samurai is pretty high on my list. Does it really roll that much? Just looking for opinions and reviews, good or bad. Thanks!

Samurais are awsome. They go anywhere and are cheap and easy to fix. BUT they are slow. They do not flip on stock form. But if you lift it and take off sway bars it can happen.

i once was with three buddies one who had a samurai. it had no glass he had removed it all and put a plastic windshield in because it did flip often. but it was light enough the four of us were able to get out and push it over. it flipped twice in about 6 hours and we were doing some donuts the second time. I’ve never had a friend flip his on the road. His was lifted with larger tires

This is my Suzuki Jimny, same as a Sammy, bur RHD and a .5L motor. Love wheeling my rig and super easy to build.

And yes they flop a lot. In the past 4 months Ive seen 3 Jimnys on their sides. It only takes a couple guys to get em upright though.

Honda CRV with a manual gearbox and a lift is my personal “cheap” offroader!

It is the best cheap off roader no doubt. But if you will lift it above 3 inches be sure to change the steering damper to prevent too much body roll

Pretty good, but make sure your center of gravity doesn’t get too high without the needed modifications. They can roll.

There is a little bit of a conspiracy theory when it comes to people saying that samurais roll easy if you want to look it up it’s was consumer reports that started it but I can say as having daily driven a Sierra(australian badged samurai) with a 2 inch lift and no front sway bar it really is not that bad it will drift before it will flip and you would have to be driving like an absolute idiot for that to happen. They are slow but not unbearably so(I’ve hit 130km/h on the highway before so you can overtake people. They are very capable offroader and are all round really fun cars. If you can deal with them being somewhat uncomfortable then go for it you won’t regret it

Just to clarify I have king springs and they are very stiff I imagine the car would be more likely to roll with softer springs
