Not a good one… It’s gonna set your requirements so high, that you’ll never want to change it to anything else :) make sure to get at least 523I/525I to get decent pefrormance
I was thinking of a 520d . i know its not the best thing in the world. But i need fuel economy (sorta). Thanks for giving your opinion tho
If you are ready for high insurance costs, maintenance, and pretty bad fuel economy then yes. Its a great car with good comfort and decent performance and one of the best looking BMWs ever made. As said before it will set your requirements for your next car very high, So get a decent one and be ready to have it for a long time until you actually can get a better car. E39s don’t usually break down that often (except my e39) but keep in mind that the head gasket might blow (usually around 250 - 280 000km / 155 - 186 000 miles on the clock) but that’s the only common problem for the e39 I can think of. I recommend u to get a e39, as its a lovely car to drive, but get yourself one with a straight six engine instead of the 4 cylinders as they are much better and more fun to drive :)
I drove one and i got 6l/100km which is not terrible. The insurance its not a problem either because it will be in my father’s name so the price will be lower
Thank you bro. Apreciate
I got an e39 530i as my first car about a month or two ago. Great car and definitely on of the better looking BMWs. Im currently having a few problems with mine but I guess thats just a BMW thing.
What problems are you experiencing?
what kind of problems?
Your exactly like me, got a bmw e39 530i msport as a first car about 1-2 months ago, amazing car but yeah has a few problems that need to be adressed, good car though
I did and I am happy I made that choice. Although you might want to consider a Z3 roadster instead, the insurance is super low on those. I pay 855€ for my 520 whilst a z3 would be below 400€ for me. Its a big factor in my opinion. However getting a z3 in good condition will cost you 1k more than a 5series in good condition. What you need to know though is: reliable car BUT you will probably have to put a bit of money into it at the beginning since the people who sell those usually skipped loads of maintenance before selling or have worn or old tires. Those tires are very expensive cause of the size. It is slightly more expensive to run than other cars but if you buy the right one you really shouldnt have any other maintenance for a while other than the initial one right after buying.
My first was a e39 528i not bad for my first car , I’ve driven faster but it never fails to make me smile
