The Mercedes-AMG E63 S is a stupidly quick car. You know that, we know that, but there’s certainly no harm in putting the pace of this 603bhp missile into context. Especially if that involves an inter-AMG drag race.
Yep, it’s time to see just what happens when you put an E63 S against an C63 S (the latter in coupe form). The victor is unsurprisingly the E, but it’s shocking to see just how much faster it is.
The E63 gets a better launch, then sets about making the C63 look even more pedestrian by putting away noticeably. That’s what an extra 100bhp and a trick all-wheel drive system will do for you…

I wonder why anyone would have the C63 when the E63 costs just £18k more and obliterates it. 3.2 seconds to 60mph is deep into supercar territory!

Also, buying brand new C63 doesn’t make sense indeed, but there are so many low-mileage examples for less than half the price of the new E63

Well, the Huracan Performante beat the Aventador SV around the Ring. Not that Ring times are everything, but the difference in horsepower is made up for by the difference in weight. This AMG race is a different story because the E63 S has AWD.
