Watch Doug DeMuro Lose His Mind Over The Spyker C8 Spyder's Quirks

Columnist and YouTuber DeMuro encounters his weirdest subject yet, the quirk-tastic Spyker C8 Spyder
Remote video URL

You don’t have to watch many Doug DeMuro videos to understand the man’s Modus Operandi. It’s all about finding an interesting car, and looking for its interesting quirks. And few cars are quite as quirky as the Spyker C8 Spyder the man takes a look at here.

It’s weird enough that this is a supercar made by a Dutch company (one frequently flirting with financial disaster) that takes its name from an old aircraft-building firm. But the more you investigate, the stranger it gets.

Take the rear lights: they’re from a Lamborghini Diablo. Then there’s the steering wheel: in some models it’s a beautifully designed item intended to look like a propeller, but in this particular example uses one borrowed from Lotus. Also in the cabin there’s a stunning exposed gear linkage, quilted leather wrapping almost everything, and toggle switches. Lots of toggle switches.

We’re really not sure how Doug is going to top the quirkiness of this one…

Imo if I were president, I’d make all manual shifters look like that 😂 they’re exquisite!

The Pagani shifters are better looking in my opinion but the Spyker shifters are just as beautiful as well

The way he says aluminium…I know people in America say it like that but it still sounds wrong.

I don’t know, I’d really like if there was a column where I could read about his Spyker experience

Doug is wrong about one thing. Spyker hasn’t made a car in years. The factory is gone, and their HQ is now a tiny office above a hairdressers.

The C8 Preliator was a last cry for help, as it was nothing more than a modified Aileron. It was never put into production.

At the auto show it was presented they even covered the VIN plate to hide it was the same car, but the tires dated back to the Aileron’s introduction.

In short, Spykers megalomaniac projects (F1, Saab) have killed the company.

Constantine C.K.

Amazing cars, almost 300k and it doesnt even have a top included.
I bet there is a Spyker’s umbrella that sells for 120k extra, that you can hold over your head in case it starts raining. Its like a normal aston martin umbrella, only retailed higher for no reason.
Just like the C8 is an Aston Martin Vanquish ripoff, only worse to drive and more expensive.

There’s some good reasons this company ended up being smaller than my corner cafe.

There is a top included, Doug said the owner just didn’t like it and since he lived In a place with such a warm climate I has no need for it
