Watch A Tesla Model X Crush A 5.7-litre Camaro In A Tug Of War

In many ways it's just cruel to pit the mountain of mass and torque that is the Tesla Model X against an ordinary muscle car, but don't let that stop you watching

In what has to be one of the most predictable but still fascinating (ahem) drag races ever staged, two buddies decided to have a tug of war between their Chevrolet Camaro with a small block 350 engine… and a Tesla Model X.

It’s a bit like putting a baby sloth into a fight with a territorial male Silverback Gorilla. Like dropping Nemo into a small tank with a hungry piranha. There was only ever going to be one winner, but the way the Model X takes the strain effortlessly and then simply walks away with it is something.

We know the Model X is damn fast. Of course, as soon as one car starts spinning its wheels in these battles, it’s game over, but the Camaro… well, it never had the slightest chance. Brutal.

I’d still choose the Camaro over the Model X.

sure, why not, 5.7 litres, 170 hp if you’re lucky, amazing fuel economy and performance. We’re car snobs, not enthusiasts, after all.

CZ 69% Muscle

Oh god it’s one of those strangled fuel crisis Shitmaros as well. Catalysed, detuned for unleaded fuel, lowered compression and primitive(read: terrible) throttle body injection (read: it’s half a fu cking carburettor with a single fuel injector) Why?

You: 69% muscle. Camaro: 1% muscle

To be fair, given a few grand for mods, I’d take the Camaro, it’s really easy to make more power, all you really have to do is delete a bunch of emissions equipment and throw in a decent carb to go up into the mid-200’s and 300lb-ft.

Are you guys not aware that the 3rd gen Camaro is arguably one of the worst when it comes to power? The IROC-Z made 180 hp, itself. This battle isn’t a surprise.

That’s what I thought, throw that thing against a 4th gen SS with the 5.7L LS like real men.

It is shame that it was so underpowered, because it was actually a very good looking car in my opinion

The IROC is also a coveted car by many. Huge engine bay. I know of a lady who has one and does the 1/4 mile in 9 seconds. Ive seen it.

AWD car built for 0-60 times vs RWD car built for affordeable power. Aint even close to fair. I want to see the Tesla go up against something like an Audi R8.

If you can call 180 hp powerful. The AWD Electric with more torque also weighs 2000 lbs more.

Nah M8, we need a proper torque machine, pit that tesla against an old F350 with the 7.3L Diesel and THEN we’re talking business.

Tesla will still monster it. The time it takes for the engine to get to torque band the tesla will already be pulling it backwards . It has more torque than most supercars on the market
