An M Division version of the i8 will almost certainly never happen, but worry not, if you want a more extreme version of BMW’s eco performance car, German tuner Manhart Racing has something up its sleeve. So far all we’ve been given are these two renders, which show that Manhart plans to lower the i8 onto some gigantic alloy wheels, and festoon the car with yellow accents.

There’s no word on any performance increases, but if this all goes ahead and Manhart does try to extract a little more punch, it’ll be interesting to see if the company can give the car a meaningful boost without ruining the i8’s efficiency. As standard, i8s produce 357bhp from the combination of a mid-mounted 1.5-litre three-pot petrol engine and an electric motor. This allows for a 0-62mph time of 4.4 seconds, and an electronically-limited 155mph top speed.
