What are E34 prices like where you are?

In the UK, you can pick up a clean 520i for about £1500 ($2200 / 1900 euros), while an M5 costs upwards of £8000 ($11,500 / 10,000 euros).

Pretty similar in Germany… I picked up my 520i for 730€ as a pile of crap but with lpg from 2011 and repaired the rest (breaking lines, rear breaks, cooling system and rust….a lot of rust). My M5 well, was cheaper than your 8000 pounds for the clean never wintered car it was, but the previous owner needed it to sell, so I got pretty lucky on that one. But at the Moment they cost 12.000 for a less clean example here.

Totally true. You can also pick up some pretty clean v8 models for around 3000/4000€.
You really can find the greatest bargains sometimes!

Here they’re asking from 2000 euros to 3500 for totally rubbish ones. Most of them are 1.8 and even those get to 5500 euros in a not very good condition. One in a good condition would cost somewhere around 9000 (only found 525tds), as for M5 well… You can’t buy one anyways there aren’t any.

In Finland, you can pick a 520 for 500€. But in a good condition, you have to pay around 1000€-1500€. And an M5 costs from 6000€ to 40,000€.

Here in Germany, they throw them at you for a three-digit figure, but you shouldn’t buy them unless you have a fetish for rust buckets… oh wait, you do. Whatever, good examples are 4000€ and up. An M5, however, can be much more expensive. Expect at least 120000€, cheaper ones are trash.
Note that they were just half the price 5 years ago. The value is rising, but only for those in good condition. Filthy E34s will always be the cheapest of the cheap.
