The story of the Bugatti Veyron: From Prototype to production. A blogpost by Mclaren 570GT Part one: Original concept and starting to reach production
The Bugatti Veyron will go down in history as one of the greatest cars of all time. That’s just a fact. Here are a couple numbers about the Veyron
8.0L Quad turbo W16
1001 hp
922 LB-FT of torque
0-60: 2.5 seconds
Top speed: 253 mph
However, this is just the start of one of man’s many engineering marvels. Let’s take a look at how cars before it set up the podium for the Veyron to stand on, and how Bugatti engineered it to deserve that spot
To understand the Veyron, first we have to go where it began. In 1999 at the Tokyo motorshow
After VW bought Bugatti in 1998, VW decided that Bugatti should release a number of concepts. Those concepts led up to the Veyron concept which debuted in 2001 at the Tokyo auto show. The original concept featured a W18 making 555 HP and did 0-60 in 5.3 seconds. The engine was then later changed to a W16 engine in production form. Making way more power than the W18 (1001 hp), the engine is 28 inches long and weighs 822 pounds
Part two will be about more of the development and how they achieved the 250+mph topspeed

Nice start! Veyron haters often forget that this car effectively started the craze for 800-1500hp hypercars.
I like the veyron more than the chiron.
