Starter bike?

I’m looking for a good starter bike for under $3000. Preferably a cruiser style bike but I’m open to options. My dad has a 800 Vulcan classic he says I could learn on but it seems quite big. Also I have no motorcycle experience what so ever but I can drive standard so I got the shifting down… maybe..
