Cheapest v8 build?

What engine is the cheapest to build (apart from Chevy), I would like to have about 325-375 hp, oh and it has to be carbureted. All I want to know is the name of the engine, not the parts that include in the build.

I know you said apart from Chevy, but honestly the 350 small block would be the cheapest, as there’s millions of the things in junkyards. After that maybe a 5.3 vortec, with a cam, heads and a carb, using an MSD spark ignition system.

As a ford guy I will say if there is a little bias on your part there is not much, the 318 is a great engine that everyone seems to forget

360 V8 also works. Anything pre-1989 for the 360 and pre-1988 for the 318 to avoid the TBI
