It used to be true that Le Mans Prototype cars had their drivers sit slightly off-centre instead of just putting them in the middle of the cockpit. Now many modern LMP cars have their drivers sit in the middle. For example the Audi R8 LMP race car had their driver sit slightly off center whereas the Porsche 919 Hybrid LMP has the driver in the middle
