Thrustmaster Has Released A Replica Ferrari 250 GTO Steering Wheel

This officially licensed wheel add-on is perfect for taking your sim racing antics back a few decades

Driving classic cars on racing sims is pretty cool, but it kinda kills the immersion when you glance down and see that you’re using a small, modern piece of plastic filled with all sorts of buttons and switches. So if you want to go the whole hog and wrestle old cars around virtual race tracks with a big wooden wheel, don’t worry: Thrustmaster has you covered with this replica of the steering wheel from the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO.

Before you ask, yes, it’s made of actual wood and metal, and it has an authentic chrome prancing horse in the centre. Plus, with a diameter of 33cm it’s a good deal bigger than Thrustmaster’s wheels, which are only 28cm in thickness.

It’s been made to commemorate Ferrari’s 70th anniversary. Coincidentally, the Ferrari 250 GTO has also been released as part of a recent DLC pack for Assetto Corsa, so if you want the full 250 GTO experience, you know what to do!

The wheel is compatible with all the current Thrustmaster T-series racing wheels and although you could use it with your console games, the complete lack of buttons on it may make it a little tricky to use. With that in mind, it’s probably best to stick to using it on the PC.

It comes in a special collectors’ box and is officially licensed by Ferrari so as you probably guessed, it ain’t cheap - when it goes on sale on 20 December it’ll be priced at a hefty $399. Still, it’s much more affordable than an actual 250 GTO…

This is amazing, tho I’d personally like a classic Nardi with the wooden rim, driving an old BMW and seeing the Ferrari logo also kills the immersion, tho it’s not the worst

Its too pricey for me, 400 dollars costs as much as the consumer level Thrustmaster T300RS

Lol, I’ve seen once on eBay a real legit Ferrari 250 GTO steering wheel, the guy had a story dating back to the ‘60s in Italy, it was for about $20k USD or something like that

I don’t like anything Ferrari. It’s all hype. Like an iPhone. Like a Tesla. You are willing to pay more for something just so you can say that you pay what you paid; and that because of what you paid for it, it is worth how much you payed.
