As you may have seen, Ferrari’s monstrous 488 has spawned the drop-top ‘Spider’ version we’ve all been expecting. Convertible cars from Maranello have always had a certain appeal. After all, what better way to let you hear more of the wonderful Ferrari exhaust noise? The trouble is, the 488 Spider is likely to set you back getting on for £200,000, so what do you do if you want a slice of alfresco Ferrari motoring for less? Buy a 360 Spider, of course.

Now, while we are talking a lot less that £200,000, these aren’t what you’d call cheap: this 28,000 mile example is up for £56,990, which is still out of reach for most of us. But you are getting a lot of car for the money: that mid-mounted 3.6-litre V8 is good for 400bhp, sending you from 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds. Oh, and it sounds incredible, especially with less metal between the exhaust pipes and your lug holes.

Running costs won’t be cheap; even after you’ve stumped up the £50k+ for a 360 you’ll need to set aside around £2000 a year for servicing and consumables, plus a little extra in case anything expensive goes wrong. However, they’re a much better ownership proposition than the older 348 and Mondial, plus the running costs will be offset by rising values.

Have a fair bit of cash stashed away? Tempted?
