This Tesla Model S Vs Renault Zoe Showdown Is Actually Quite Close

Is the Model S P100D actually worth the huge premium over a small electric car? Time to find out...

The Tesla Model S P100D is considerably faster, roomier and more luxurious than an entry-level electric car like the Renault Zoe. But it’s also far more expensive.

That’s what makes this cheap vs expensive showdown from Car Wow particularly interesting. Is the P100D really worth the premium? Time to find out via drag races, a range test, a brake test and more…

It’s like comparing a capsicum to a Bhut Jolokia, both belong to the same group, but oh boy, is one of them hotter.

Knowing the average reliability of Tesla I would go with the Zoe,its also a more discreet car if you live on a dangerous hood

The thing I like about Teslas is that they made a desirable electric car, in the way that one would want to have it even if it wasn’t electric. You cannot say the same about the Renault Zoe or about the Nissan Leaf or the Mitsubishi i-MiEV, can you?

Too bad that the build quality is terrible. Maybe “Made in USA” isn’t a sign of quality after all.

Zoe and Leaf are desirable as well. Twizzy on the other hand.

I have sat inside one and not one bit of the interior said £70,000 car, BUT with that said, it actually has the highest safety rating. They have to cut the interior quality because of the price of the mechanics, or should I say electrics

I’m a vehicle mechatronics apprentice and I hear many many complaints about tesla build quality here in Germany, it could just be that the germans are butt hurt but still, the repair reports do seem to show the build quality seems to lack. I blame that on the production problems they’re having. Ford quality is amazing so “made in USA” should still hold some authenticity.

Zoe is so old & ugly
I’d rather go for e-Gold/A3 e-tron or, probably more sensible, the new Leaf

I hope they release the e-Sport with the next generation of Zoe, 250-300hp electric Zoe would be awesome

C’mon I can’t be the only one that thinks Zoe is cute

Yeah. It does 0-60 faster than some hot hatches with 190hp do. 6,7sec to be more accurate. While the Zoe does it in ‘bout 11 sec

A cornering test of some sort would have been interesting. I think it would have been enough to equalise the score.
