This Is How Terrifying An Audi RS8 Would Look

The new A8's shockingly large grille looks even more posing on this rendered RS makeover

While an S8 version of Audi’s all new, tech-fest A8 will happen at some point, we’re less sure about an RS. It doesn’t seem highly necessary, not when the outgoing S8 Plus was the second most powerful Audi ever built upon its release.

Still, there’s no harm in dreaming, and Jan Peisert has imagined just how an RS8 might look. And thanks to the standard A8’s spectacularly large grille, the answer is quite evil. That’s a hell of a lot of honeycomb, isn’t it? See that nose approaching in your rear-view mirror, and you’ll be getting out of the way rather swiftly.

If such a thing were built, it might be powered by a fettled version of the new Audi/Porsche-developed 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, which is also going to power the incoming S8. Or there’s VW Group’s W12, which is already set to be fitted to a wafty A8 range-topper. We feel compelled to note that the 6.0-litre lump was recently cranked up to 700bhp for the Bentley Continental Supersports. That’d work for the RS8 rather nicely…

Future ain’t that bad cmon
It’s not because certain manufacturers go in a direction that you don’t like that it means the future is s**t.
Plus I don’t really know why you’re complaining here. Audi will still sell luxury sports cars with V8s and V10s so there isn’t much that will change, for the next 10-15 years at least

Why fon’t they use the R8’s V10 for the RS8 instead?

Because the V10 will have packaging issues, and a heavy car needs lots of torque

Welp, we need evotech motorsport to make a 1,000 horsepower stage 3 tune for it then.
