This Guy Had His Model X Order Cancelled After An Online Rant
These days, it’s pretty easy to have a rant online and have your voice heard. However, it backfired for Stewart Alsop. He’d placed a $5000 deposit on a Model X, but wasn’t happy about the launch event, which had started late, had apparently focused too much on safety, and didn’t provide him with the opportunity to drive the car he’d been expecting.
He posted a lengthy tirade about the event titled ‘Dear @ElonMusk: You should be ashamed of yourself’- and it seems to have hit its target audience. According to an update post from Alsop called ‘Banned By Tesla’, Tesla CEO Elon Musk rang him up personally to cancel his order:
“I heard from our phone conversation that you feel that my post, “Dear @ElonMusk: You should be ashamed of yourself”, was a personal attack on you. I also hear that you are not comfortable having me own a Tesla car and have cancelled my order for a Tesla Model X.”
Musk even appeared to reference the affair on Twitter yesterday.
Whether or not you agree with Alsop’s rantings - which do have a whiff of first world problems about them - “denying service” to him does seem a little like unnecessary power tripping. Alsop appears to be able to see the funny side of it at least, referencing one of Musk’s other ventures: “I guess this means I probably won’t be allowed to buy a SpaceX Dragon, either.”

If you’ve ever worked in retail you’ll love Musks reaction.
This. I worked in a PC shop for half a year. I have no respect for people with that kind of behaviour. If they’d behaved like that in the shop while i was there I would tell them to get lost. I don’t care if you buy anything. Some people think they should be treated like kings just because they have money to buy something.
But you were a worker, not the CEO, he earns money from the sales, you don’t. In my point of view he didn’t have to cancel his order, “Any Publicity is good publicity”. Ready for the downvotes.

I guess he’s not getting any S-E-X hehe. No, but seriosuly it may be a bit to much, but if you rant over a company and how they talk about the SAFETY of the cars, which is a big part of Tesla’s salesspeech, I sort of get the decision. although I don’t support it.

If this is how Tesla is dealing with his customers, I’m very disappointed. Tesla is like the Lamborghini for electric cars, so i expected more exclusiv stuff only for the customers
I don’t think that’s how they deal with all of their customers. But I do agree with your statement. I wonder if Lamborghini or Ferrari treat their customers like they do at Tesla?

These two have history, they have 20 years of beef between them due to some issues around the time when Elon was starting up PayPal
So it works like here: you become rude, then you don’t deserve the joy.
Then Stewart apparently know Tesla isn’t real cars and bought a Lambo.
