I have to say I’m a bit disappointed by the video, I hoped he would show the replies and actually do something with it. That he doesn’t like Facebook mechanics as pro isn’t surprising at all.

I thought this was going to show the aftermath of someone following a troll’s advice. Like putting antifreeze in the engine to keep it warm in the winter. Or putting nails in the tires.

Would you like to see that done to the beautiful Supra there?

I agree but to be fair sometimes the issue requires a relatively simple fix

Clutch alignment tool, 17mm key and a hacksaw - yup, enough tools to change the head-gasket xD

I can appreciate the amount of eye rolling that mechanics do as soon as anyone mentions “I read on the internet…”, I’ve said it before to a mechanic and could instantly see the “this guy’s an idiot” on his face. BUT!! Personally speaking, I feel forums etc have their place.

If I can google the symptoms and find other people experiencing the same thing, and can read how they went about sorting it or chat to them directly, I can at least have an idea when I get to the mechanic, and a bit of a heads up if the mechanic is a dodgey barstuard and tries to rip me off.

Of course, what usually happens is you find someone who had the same problem 3 or 4 years ago, but they only posted that they solved it, and their account is not longer active. WHAT DID YOU FIND!??!?

Ya well when you take your car in because it shifts funny needing a new slave cylinder and your mechanic tells you it needs a whole new transmission, its good to look that up and tell him before dropping 2 grand.

I’d like to know what shop is replacing transmissions for only $2000. cuz I’m on my way if that’s the case, and my car doesn’t even need a new one yet
