These BMW M5 Vs Mercedes-AMG E63 S Races Are Insanely Close

There's barely anything in these three head-to-head challenges between the new BMW M5 and the epic Mercedes-AMG E63 S

You pretty much already know what’s going down, here. In the silver corner, we have the new, four-wheel drive BMW M5, packing 592bhp and 553lb ft. In the, err, ever-so-slightly darker silver corner it’s the Mercedes-AMG E63 S, whose ordinary-looking bonnet hides 603bhp and 626lb ft.

Both drive all four wheels, both have the latest in trick automatic transmission technology, both weigh about the same, and both come shod with sticky summer tyres. Car Wow raced the two at Bruntingthorpe, starting with a straightforward drag race, then a 70mph brake test and finally a rolling-start drag face-off. Which do you think will win?

Even though acceleration times is fun, all of the modern super sedans is so insanely quick that a tenth of a second doesnt really matter much anymore. Which is the best everyday car and wiich one feels more spescial? Matters more for everyday driving.

The Merc seems noticeably softer sprung at the rear…way more rear squat off the line than the BMW. Wonder if that compromises it in other situations. Probably not for the road which, let’s face it, is where these will live 99.9% of their lives.

I would go M5 any day…They still have that record for the longest drift and we’ll have to see how it fares on the track, which I know it can nail that run too…Overall, my point is ///M cars are made for hooning like crazy…I love AMG as well, but ///M cars are on another level right now and will always be…

Id still go for the M5, the margins are miniscule and i much prefer bmw’s dials as opposed to mercedes’s giant screens.
