The Top Ten Q-Cars From The CT Garage

We love looking at all the different types of cars you guys drive, so we thought we'd list some of our favourite Q cars from the CT Garage! Points go for subtlety, speed and sheer awesomeness

1. BMW 740i

What better Q-car to start with than one that’s featured in a James Bond movie? The big V8 up front and the subtle styling mean the big Bimmer barely raises an eyebrow; until it’s time to race off from the lights.

Plus, with all the space inside and a large boot, it’s the perfect long distance cruiser. This one in the CT Garage belongs to Tom Mortlock. Kudos on the colour too, Tom.

2. Toyota Supra P-Type

This Supra might look a little rough around the edges - there are a couple of scrapes here and there - but from reading owner Dylan’s description, you can tell there’s a lot of love for the old girl. Despite being sometimes unreliable, this will certainly still be pretty brisk off the line.

3. Citroen BX 16 Valve

You can’t beat a bit of 80’s cheese wedge styling, right? This BX is a definite Q car: fast and inconspicuous. If you get a chance, have a look at the interior too, very cool. Thanks to Andrew for adding this one to the garage.

4. Ford Focus RS

One of the best things about the Focus RS was the way you had to know about it to recognise it. To most people, it’s just a Ford with some big wheels. But the differences over the standard hatch were far from cosmetic; with 210bhp coarsing through the front wheels via a Quaife front differential, the RS was an accomplished B-road monster.

These cars were pretty rare to begin with, so seeing one now is even more special. Thanks to Deromegadrei for uploading this excellent example.

5. Audi S6

This S6 looks mean. Take away the rear pipes and the badging, this could be just any old S6. The way that only these subtle changes mark it apart from ordinary Audis is what makes it properly cool.

This is Fabio’s pride and joy. Thanks to him for uploading this evil S6.

6. Renault Clio 182

The Renault Clio is the epitome of sharp, direct and responsive handling thrown into a practical package. In a similar vein to the Focus RS, the Clio 182 showed that you really could have your cake and eat it; you didn’t have to disergard performance in order to have (relative) practicality.

The Clio is also very subtly modified over the standard car, which makes it ideal for this list. Thanks to Liam for uploading this lovely Clio to the Garage!

7. Reliant Scimitar GTE

Just look at this thing! A vision in brown, this Reliant is an homage to the 70’s. With a V6 under the bonnet it has plenty enough pull to warrant its place on this list. That rear three quarter panel is something special, too.

Credit to Matthew for this 70’s classic.

8. Lancia Delta HF Integrale

So it may not be particularly subtle, but the little Lancia is such a cool car it would be a shame not to feature it. We can even forgive the non-stock wheels since the original pepper pot ones were stolen, according to owner mlm61.

The white colour really works on this car and the stance is spot on. We could definitely imagine storming along a mountain pass in this little Lancia, having the time of our lives.

9. Fiat Panda CLX

With a 16v engine swap from a Punto Sporting, this little Panda is far from standard. But the sheer presence this little car gives off is incredible.

As well as a cute-but-assertive stance, it sits well on its wheels, with red highlights in all the right places. This is Seb’s little gem and we’re glad he uploaded this cracking Panda.

10. Mercedes Benz 280 SEL

The Top Ten Q-Cars From The CT Garage

This Mercedes is a great example of a luxury Q-car. The shape is pretty much timeless and would look good anywhere. It’s got enough power to whisk it along briskly, all whilst being surrounded by double helpings of wood and leather.

It may not be the fastest here, but it does have a grandness that the others struggle to compete with. This would be a great car to sail under the radar in. Thanks to Karl for showing us his lovely Benz.

Do you own a Q-car that you think could rival those we’ve put above? Or do you own a car that you think is just plain cool? Well add it to the Car Throttle garage and compare it to the range of awesome cars already there.
