The New Renault Sport Megane Will Be Here On Friday

We’ve already had our first glimpse of the new Renault Sport Megane via a leaked image, and it turns out we won’t have to wait long until we see much more of it.

Renault has officially confirmed that the Honda Civic Type R-fighting hatchback will “make its first public appearance” at the Monaco Grand Prix on Friday, taking to the legendary street circuit with Renault F1 driver and Le Mans winner Nico Hulkenberg at the wheel. After that, it’ll make its full debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

The new Megans RS is expected to be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-four producing as much as 300bhp. It’ll power the front wheels via a manual gearbox, with an automatic transmission anticipated to be on the options list.

Renault hasn’t said anything about any Nurburgring record attempts just yet, but it’s almost certainly going to happen. The company will have the aforementioned Type R’s 7min 43sec front-wheel drive lap record in its sights.

We’ll be on the ground in Monaco on Friday to take a closer look at the car - make sure you check out our social channels for the latest coverage.
