The cars

2015 saw us gain access to more awesome machinery than ever before. We’ve driven supercars, luxury land yachts, superminis, cult classics and everything in between.

The most expensive new car we plonked our bottoms in was the Bentley Mulsanne, which at £232,000 literally costs as much as a house. However, that was pipped to the ‘most expensive’ post by the 1958 Skoda 1100 OHC race car - it’s one of the last ones in existence, and we were trusted to whip it around a wet track. By stark contrast, the least expensive (new) car we drove was the redesigned Smart Fortwo. Interestingly, the Smart post was one of the most-read reviews of the year, proving that it’s not just big horsepower sports cars you guys find interesting.

The most powerful car driven by CT was an 800hp BMW E30 that Alex drove for a video, which was followed by the 697bhp Dodge Challenger Hellcat, which Adnan was lucky enough to boot about a track during this year’s Gumball rally. At the other end of the scale it’s the Smart again; its 71bhp 999Cc three-pot was both the smallest and least powerful engine in anything we drove.

The manufacturers

Whenever we write a post we tag relevant manufacturers to help power our Trending feature, and for the second year in a row, BMW is the manufacturer we talked about more than any other. Over the last 365 days we wrote about BMW 170 times, with Ford in second place in 136 articles, followed closely by Porsche on 133. Honda was the biggest climber, jumping from 11th to 6th this year, thanks largely to the new NSX and Civic Type R - it’s been quite a year for the Japanese manufacturer.

When it comes to cars in the Garage, BMW is again the most popular manufacturer. There are currently 1838 BMWs parked on CT, followed by 1602 Fords and 1472 Volkswagens.
