Yes, we know the whole Nurburgring lap time thing descended into silliness a long time ago, and yes, we do hate ourselves a little bit every time we report on the latest manufacturer effort, but you cannot help but be impressed by this lap from Lamborghini. Normally when we see an Aventador, it’s through the lens of of a supercar spotter’s camera, with the driver revving the nuts off it at a standstill, so it’s great to see what one can do with a decent helmsman.

In this case, it’s the new 740bhp Aventador SV we’re seeing in action, laying down a mighty impressive time around the Green Hell. In fact, the 6min 59.73 effort is just under three seconds off the time set by the much more powerful - not to mention much more expensive - Porsche 918 Spyder.
