There are few more satisfying steers than an uber-powered super saloon. BMW M5 and Jaguar XFR-S are just two such barges that have won the hearts of everyone at CT Towers, but over in Australia their penchant for chucking big engines in big cars and trucks is something of a national obsession.

The HSV GTS is a perfect example of this. The Aussie version of the UK’s Vauxhall VXR8, it packs a 6.2-litre supercharged V8 making 577bhp and 546lb ft of torque, but the guys at Walkinshaw Performance decided that just wasn’t enough heat. They’ve just unveiled their W507 performance package, which hikes power to 680bhp and 627lb ft of torque.

It’s not been simple, though. When the GTS was first released, WP set about trying to fit its existing products to the car, but the new engine was far too complex, requiring a fresh start. The result is the W507 pack, featuring a raft of unique upgrades.

New parts include a pulley upgrade kit, ceramic coated headers and cats, a dual active cat-back exhaust, and a cold air intake. The ECU has also been recalibrated.

The W507 package will set you back $7990 (that’s Australian Dollars) including supply and fitting, and can be fitted to both saloons and utes.
