The Ferrari 348 Has The Weirdest Seatbelts You've Ever Seen, Among Other Quirks

While arguing that the Ferrari 348 deserves a little more respect, Doug DeMuro takes a look at the car's stranger features, of which there are many...

It’s getting harder and harder to bag a relatively inexpensive mid-engined Ferrari. 360 Modena prices have long since bottomed out and made their way back up again, while the likes of the 355 and the 308/328 have experienced fairly shocking increases in value over the last few years.

So if you want a low-cost, mid-engined car from Maranello, chances are it’s going to have to be a 348. But the 348 is a poor excuse of a Ferrari, isn’t it? That’s certainly a common perception, but Doug DeMuro reckons the late 80s/early 90s supercar doesn’t deserve its shoddy reputation.

What’s more, it’s laden with odd and amusing quirks, including some properly bizarre seat belts, a frunk that’s front-hinged (making it difficult to load anything in), and a hilarious-sounding horn. Because what use is an old Italian sports car without character?

Still not convinced it’s worth $60k. I’ll take a Porsche 996 instead.

Doug seems to have a passion about being constantly in contradiction with car guys. I bet his next video is going to be “Here’s why the Mondial is the best Ferrari”…

I mean:

  • “Here’s why the Aztek is good”
  • “Here’s why the 996 is the best 911”
  • “Here’s why the Type R is not cool”
  • “Here’s why the NSX 2017 is the best car of the decade”
  • “Here’s why the R63 AMG is so good”

I feel like his next car’s going to be a Prius so he can talk about its quirks and features and HOW IT HAS A LITTLE TREE IN THE CENTER SCREEN

But the NSX is good tho…both of them

The 996 IS the best 911 though, it took the 911 out of the 70s and into the 21st century

Clickbait, my friend. Articles that can drum up a negative connotation will spark more people to engage in arguments/discussions in the comments, and people are more likely to click on something to argue against than they are to agree with it. For example, if you’re a fan of the Type R, you’ve looked at so much stuff on the Type R that when you see an article or video titled “Here’s why the Type R is the best” you won’t care, but if it says “Here’s why the Type R is not cool” you’ll be like “what!? That’s not right! I must go in here and defend it!”. It’s pandering to the keyboard warriors to generate engagement

NSX is good

The Mondial is great, as well as the R63, and NSX 2017. I saw your comments about price, well Road & Track agreed with Doug as well and named it the performance car of the year.

He not picks at things in race cars where it’s like it’s a race car it’s not meant to have that for the price

In Europe it has normal seat belts. Only in the US it has these weird ones because of their weird rules… :P
