Fans of subtlety look away now - niche Californian car maker Rezvani is set to unveil its debut SUV.

An official announcement is due in around a week, but the brand has already shown some teaser shots and revealed the name: Tank. It will join Rezvani’s equally unreserved, Ariel Atom-based Beast supercar to make for quite the two-car line-up.

In a typically bombastic press release from Rezvani, the Tank is claimed to be “a military-inspired, purpose-built, extreme utility vehicle loaded with capable features both inside and out.”

It uses a body-on-frame design with what Rezvani describes as a “world-class suspension system.” Power comes from either a standard V6 or an optional 6.4-litre V8, packing around 500bhp.

More interesting are the available options. Buyers can specify the Tank with thermal and night vision systems, and ballistic armour. That’s not likely to make the car particularly lightweight, and the thick panels required for this level of protection will have some effects on the interior space.

The current cheapest car in the Rezvani range is the £95,000 Beast Alpha, so don’t expect the Tank to come cheap either. That said, Rezvani is currently taking customer orders for a $1,000 refundable deposit.

“Buyers can specify the Tank with thermal & night vision systems, and ballistic armour”

Yeah, totally relevant for self-defense: I can’t wait the day they’ll release a version equiped with a 90 mm gun for “home defense”.
