The 10 Best User-Generated Articles On CT This Week

You guys have been hard at work creating some awesome content on CT this week. We have an in-depth Mazda MX-5 hill climb conversion, a look at an owner's terrible Audi RS6 experience, an analysis of whether the Skyline GT-R is overhyped, and many more!

And when I say epic, I mean epic. Jennifer has finally finished her MX-5 build, and hopes to compete in local hill climb events this year. She’s put together this massive build thread charting the progress of her car - named Vincent, by the way - from humble B-road cruiser to competition ready beast. Yes, she did have problems with rust. Because MX-5.

Before the Lancia 037, the bizarre-looking 030 was lined up to compete in the Tour d’Italia, however in the 1974 race it was beaten by the Lancia Stratos, resulting in its discontinuation. CTzen ‘Steve Buscemi’ has put together a short piece honouring a forgotten car that deserves to be remembered.

Choro-Q toy cars might be marketed at kids, but there’s no shame in wanting one of these cute little toy cars if you’re a grown up! Mostly based on Japanese cars, they’re not to scale, but what they are is quirky little motorised toys that’d make a brilliant addition to any desk.

You’d think that owning an Audi RS6 would be ruddy fantastic, but CupraR32T found his ownership experience nothing but troublesome. After a bit of an issue with the engine and transmission, he’d hoped that would be the end of his problems. Far from it. Check out the article to see why sometimes owning a performance car can test your patience.

The great thing about motorsport is that it pushes creativity. The best engineers in the world are forced to think outside the box to create the fastest possible car within the regulations, and that results in some awesome machinery and innovation. Unfortunately, sometimes, those engineers do a little too well, forcing the FIA to stifle that creativity and hold teams back so as to not upset the slower teams. It’s an annoying reality of motor racing, and in 1992 Mazda was on the receiving end of a big fat ban for being too good. Dylan Smit has written a brilliant piece on what happened next.

The internet is full of people who’ll tell you front-wheel drive is the devil’s work, but that’s really not true. There are loads of brilliant FWD cars around, and Thug Bird has put together a great list that might just be enough to convert you away from RWD…

When the electric race series Formula E quietly whizzed onto the scene in 2014, there were few people who expected it to be quite as spectacular as it has been. There’s been close racing and huge crashes over the last couple of years, and sestoelemento has outlined all the reasons why this makes it compulsive viewing.

Not all of us can afford to drive a new car, so the next best thing is to make your old car feel like it’s new. Neil Pathak has outlined the best ways to look after your car and chop the years off of it - these few steps will make a huge difference to your ride!

When you tell people you’re into cars, one of the biggest questions from non-petrolheads is “why do you throw money away on cars?” It’s a fair point. Cars will almost always lose you money, but Harold Potato reckons that doesn’t have to be the case. Here’s a list of cars you could buy now for little outlay, but will rise in value in the not-too-distant future.

There are few cars in the scene that have gained cult status to quite the level of the GT-R, but is it deserved? The CSL takes a look at a number of different aspects of the iconic Skyline to try to decide whether its god-like status is created by hype, or if it deserves to be so revered.

Me too man.
I feel as though the whole CT Office hold a grudge against me though, as I have never been featured in a post like this believe it or not - not even my ‘14 F80 M3 that I used to own.

I’m honored my article has been received as positively as it has, but I’ll have to correct something.
Mazda’s rotary was not banned in Group C for being too good, it was banned for being too different.

The FIA (and the always evil B. Ecclestone) were trying to unitize the category to only use Formula 1 engines so the big manufacturers would enter F1 over Group C. All of Mazda’s competitors were effectively banned as well. I do talk about this in my article.
I love the 787B but it just wasn’t as good as people would like it to have been.
