Tesla Has Just Become More Valuable Than Ford

We can’t quite believe we’re bringing you this news, but Tesla, a tech brand that currently only makes two models of car, is now worth more than Ford.

After Tesla shares jumped seven per cent yesterday following the announcement of record deliveries in the first three months of the year, the company’s value ended the trading day at $49 billion, while Ford’s sat at $46 billion.

Tesla Has Just Become More Valuable Than Ford

Despite delivering just 76,000 cars last year compared to Ford’s 6.7 million, Tesla’s investment in driverless technology, battery technology, its Gigafactory in Nevada, renewable energy and general forward-thinking has brought about a dramatic leap in its value.

Since 2012, the company’s share prices have risen from around $30 to their current position, knocking on the door of $300 per share. The price was also bolstered by Chinese firm Tencent’s decision to pour $1.78 billion into a five per cent share of the firm last month.

Tesla delivered more than 25,000 cars from January to March, in what looks likely to be the start of the firm’s best-ever year.

Not bad for a company that took everyones money before they make the thing they promised that they haven’t actually made yet, and are making projections that Wall Street experts are refraining from laughing at.

What could possibly go wrong?

Note: Musk reckoned they would be making 430,000 cars next year. More cars than all the electric cars combined and sold in the world last year.

Good luck with that.

Agreed. Tesla isn’t going to stay at this position for a long unless they change their ways

Eh, the money isn’t the problem, as they can get a full refund at any time I believe. But it is kinda a scumbag move. Interesting how it will play out none the less!

That’s good. But what i don’t like about Tesla is their model 3 it’s forcing whoever bought it to rely on autonomous mode, hence it iPad very uncomfortable to look at when you drive it.

Not really tesla is overpriced and will collapse there P/E is - 63.79 and has a EPS of - 4.69 all this means is that tesla is losing money every day and it going to collapse

because right now they are spending money to build an enormous factory so that they can make enough vehicles to become profitable (not saying they definitely will, but obviously they aren’t a sustainable business yet)

Economics 101: inflated stocks tied to unfulfilled promises. It will tank after the 3 settles into regular production. I’m not saying it won’t still be a profitable and wealthy company, but the stock bubble for them will definitely burst once the promises are actually delivered (or not delivered, who knows).

Except it isn’t a profitable company. They pull negative earnings all the time
