He’s only been CEO of Audi Sport since March 2016, but Stephen Winkleman is set to leave the Ingolstadt’s performance arm. Citing VW Group officials, Autocar reports that the 52-year-old will leave the firm “later this year,” replacing Wolfgang Dürheimer as president of Bugatti.

So far during his stint at Audi Sport, Winkleman has overseen a rebrand (the company was formerly ‘quattro GmbH’), plus the launches of the RS3, RS5 and R8 Spyder. The all-new RS4 may also emerge before the end of his tenure. Prior his time at Audi, he’d been president and CEO of Lamborghini.

Audi China sales head Michael-Julius Renz is tipped to replace Winkleman, while Dürheimer is expected to retain his post as chairman of Bentley.

The long-term post-dieselgate management restructuring could also see Winkleman take the Bentley role too, according Autocar’s sources.
