Spectators Injured In Terrible Dakar Rally Prologue Crash

11 spectators have been injured in a crash during the prologue stage of the 2016 Dakar Rally. Guo Meiling lost control of her X-Raid Mini just after a jump.

Dakar confirmed that the accident took place just after the half-way mark of the 11km stage, with the car veering off road and into a group of fans. Organisers quickly neutralised the prologue stage as all emergency resources were sent to the scene.

A clip posted online has emerged, showing the moment the driver lost control of the car.

According to Motorsport.com, six adults and five children were rescued from the scene, with two reportedly being seriously injured.

A 14-year-old boy suffered pulmonary trauma and his father suffered severe head trauma, both were transported to Santa Francesca Romana hospital and were reported as being stable by doctors.

The first official stage of the Dakar rally, a 258km leg from Rosario to Villa Carlos Paz, begins today. The start was delayed due to thunderstorms and the stage was eventually cancelled.

Brace yourself for the newspapers saying that motorsport should be banned because it is too dangerous.

At school before the winter holidays we were given a ton of questions about wether speed is good or bad. Most of the class agreed that going fast is awesome, while the teacher said it was terrible unless it is needed. Then she gave us a small essay to write where we had to try and explain why the Paris-Dakar race is bad. We were not allowed to do the opposit, we had to explain why it was bad.

I just don’t know why there are stupid people that sit next to the track an think “Yes… I’m totally fine here if a drivere loses control… And my little kids are fine too.”

Anyway, i hope too that all spectators will get better.

Idiots like that are one of the biggest problems in rally becoming mainstream, in Ireland anyway the majority of the time rallying is only on the news/in the papers when people get hit because they were standing in a stupid place and got injured.

Honestly, it’s rally. There’s cars flying by at 100+ mph on dirt, snow, gravel and sometimes in the air. Even with all modernised barriers and cars, they are still 2000 pound bullets. If your a spectator at a rally race you should know the risks your taking

Spectators should be moved farther back in races such as these, but that’s also huge driver error

I didn’t mean that. Actually I am Chinese, too. In China, we often think that women always make mistakes when they are driving cars, but that’s just a joke, you know. For example, my mom always exceed the speed limit on highway……..
