Say Hello To The Refreshed BMW M4 And 4-Series

Following on from the facelifted 3-series, BMW’s pretty 4-series has received its own little nip and tuck.

It’s not the sort of nip and tuck you’ll struggle to notice, though. Even for a typically subtle BMW ‘Life Cycle Impulse’ update, the range’s facelift is very, very subtle.

The front bumper on the M Sport doesn’t look any different, although on other models you might notice a new shiny bit of trim running along the middle of the lower grille. But that’s pretty much it, other than the innards of the new - now standard - LED headlights looking a little different.

At the rear there’s another chrome slash type thing going on plus LED rear clusters. The interior meanwhile gets a few new chrome and gloss black details, plus a smattering of snazzy new colour options.

Under the skin, BMW has had a little play with the suspension. The 4-series coupe and Gran Coupe rider on “more advanced damping technology” with a stiffer setup, and the steering has been “upgraded,” although BMW hasn’t given any specific details.

The M4 is largely unchanged, although you get those aforementioned LED front and rear light clusters, plus a lightly refreshed interior including some lovely double stitching on the dashboard. Oh, and a little extra standard kit.

Also new on the M4 is the Exterior Carbon pack, which for £3000 (£2500 for the convertible) gives you various carbon trim pieces including the rear diffuser and spoiler.

The new range goes on sale on 19 January, starting at £32,525 for the 420i and topping out at £64,110 for the M4 convertible in Competition Pack guise.
