Living with a Lotus Exige 350 - The Intro

This is me - not at my most photogenic, but in one of the most overwhelmed moments of my life when taking delivery of my Lotus Exige Sport 350.

This foto has been taken roughly 6 months ago and I’ve been living with the Exige as my daily ever since. I wanted to start this blog for ages (basically pretty much exactly 6 months), but - as it always happens - never actually took to my computer and just started. But now everybody is at home, the reviews and written or filmed driving experiences here, on TopGear and on Youtube, that are part of my own daily entertainment start to dry out since the auto journalists are also at home.

Therefore, I thought I do my part and use the extraordinary experiences I gathered with my car and all the pictures I’ve taken on the way to show what living with a Lotus is actually like. Oh and maybe, just maybe this is also a little bit of therapy for myself since I’m also very much stuck at home and on a solid way into madness between home office duty and drinking nights with friends via skype.

So, what do I want to write about? Most importantly, I want to take you into everyday life with an Exige and show that you actually can totally daily a Lotus. If you’re passionate about it and willing to be a little unorthodox from time to time that is. But it can carry a german crate of beer in the trunk - what more do you really need?

I also want to tell you about how I even got to get a Lotus because the process in itself was one of the best experiences you can make as a petrolhead. Some videos will also follow (mostly because the sound is incredible, racecar-like above 5.000) and I also want to dive into the cost of driving a Lotus - sneak peak: financing is surprisingly reasonable, filling up with premium unleaded every 180km on the other hand is not.

I will start with how I even went from looking at old Boxters to getting an Exige in the first part as fast as I can. But before that, I would love to know: What questions do you have and what should I delve into specifically?

Why don’t you add it to your in-app garage tho?

I just did! Or at least I think so, it somehow doesn’t show up on the “Garage” section of my profile even though I put it there in my account settings.

Since the Exige is a more track-focused car that can be used on the road, how is the daily drivability in terms of comfort?

Actually comfort in terms of sitting is quite ok - sure it is firm, but not terrible. Definitely softer than an old Megane RS with the cup chassis i.e.!
I’ve driven it on 500km trips (Posts are coming) a couple of times and your butt and your back are actually fine. But your arms hurt from not having power steering and therefore feeling every bump in the steering wheel especially when going 200km/h+ and it is pretty loud even with the exhaust closed due to lots of wind noise.
