Stretching My 350Z's Legs After Winter

It has been a long winter here in Utah, so I was completely game for some cone hunting!

For the first event we had 87 people show up and I think about 30 new drivers which is pretty awesome! I am competing in Street Touring U this year. Cars that compete in this include my 350Z, Evo’s, STI’s, C5 Corvette’s, E46 M3’s and some more. Modifications are essentially basic bolt ons and sticky 200 treadwear tires. E Z.

My main competition was a fully prepped STI. I have coilovers and a catback. I would also have sticky tires but FedEx held them over the weekend so I ran my street tires. I made them work and to be honest, after sliding around all winter on the streets these felt pretty grippy. I am looking at it as a good way to ween myself back into the sport. Anyway, utilizing a less grippy tire is good practice for when you step up to something stickier.

In the end I came third in class behind the STI (It was codriven, meaning two people were sharing the same car) I was 1.7 seconds behind 2nd and about 2 seconds behind first. I feel if I had my sticky tires it would have been a great battle. Nonetheless I had a blast! It felt good to push my car again albeit in a parking lot. I met a lot of new people, helped others get fast and reached an aura of send with my last run being my fastest. I can’t wait for the next event!
