Because 1L of diesel has more energy than 1L of gasoline. However, it releases it slower. So if you have a longer stroke, you can transfer the energy into mechanical energy. Because the compression is higher and the stroke is longer you can’t rev as high as a gas engine. That’s why they make more torque and less peak HP.
What i did understand in the video, was that he burning of diesel is faster. Go check the comentaries in youtube. There is one that explains some things that are not clear. Its because of the turbo. Cause one diesel car and petrol car without turbo, the petrol will have more torque. Search old cars specs and compare
Thank you, you really made me feel better about owning a Detroit Diesel, an engine that has a bore that is wider than the stroke is long. If you say that the stroke Length is less important than the fuel itself and the turbo charger in generating torque.
This is interesting. Thank you. Too bad though that soon knowledge about diesel will be useless, due to the fact that diesel engines will become extinct, because of “Getting rid of diesels will solve environmental problems!” lobby in pretty much every government.
