Rejoice: The Dodge Hellcat V8 Is Now Available As A Crate Engine

Ladies and gentlemen, let us present the Holy Grail of crate engines. That’s right, Dodge’s 6.2-litre supercharged ‘Hellcat’ HEMI V8 can now be bought in crate form, making its 697bhp (707hp) brawn available for the maddest of project car builds.

It’s called the Hellcrate (obviously), and it’s yours for $19,530. You’re probably going to want the Engine Kit (below) on top of that, which will set you back $2195. It includes a powertrain control module, engine wiring harness, an accelerator pedal, various sensors and a fuel pump control module.

Rejoice: The Dodge Hellcat V8 Is Now Available As A Crate Engine

The Hellcrate - which has a muscular 650lb ft torque figure to go along with its 697bhp - has a three year, unlimited-mileage warranty from Mopar to complete a worry-free, shouty V8 package. In terms of transmissions, Dodge recommends the engine is hooked up to a six-speed Tremec Magnum manual gearbox.

So the question is, what would you stick a Hellcrate engine in? Comment below with your ideas…

Something tiny with that engine would be so much fun.

Honestly dodge is the coolest company. This is how all car brands should be run because they make their fan base happy. Dodge seems to actually care about what their customers would want. Props to dodge

Wonder how Tesla would do that… Inb4 they offer special discounts on Panasonic batteries if you own a Tesla that you can’t even swap the batteries out of… or maybe the electric motors perhaps. 🤔

Dodge charges (ba-dum-tsss) too much for their crate engines, I like Ford and chevy’s pricing better

Technically every car company appeals to what customers want (which is why we have so many crossovers). Dodge is just appealing to the petrolhead end of the spectrum which is smaller and less profitable

That would be a mad, mad creation of a car. The power combined with the light weight of a RX-7 could create one of two things-an insane, unbeatable package at drag strips and drift events, or an undrivable beast!

Swap this in that cayman that has the 5.0 Coyote motor and up the power some. That would be a lively car to say the least. You’d probably lose traction in the rear just by putting on your turn signals
